A Russian missile strike on Odesa killed two people and wounded eight, including two children, in the early hours of 17 July, deputy mayor Oleksandr Filatov said, as bombardment of the port city entered a seventh consecutive day.
A missile hit a three-storey residential building, damaging homes, a kindergarten, a religious building, vehicles and other civilian infrastructure. A woman walking in a park with children was killed; the children survived. The air-raid alert sounded around 22:00 the previous evening.
The attack followed broader overnight exchanges, with Russia saying it downed 375 Ukrainian drones across 18 regions and Crimea. Ukrainian drones struck targets in the Moscow, Yaroslavl, Kaluga, Tver, Saratov and Tula regions, with civilian infrastructure damaged near a military airfield in Engels, Saratov.
