Russia said it destroyed a facility producing components for Neptune guided missiles during the overnight barrage on Kyiv, claiming long-range precision weapons hit the Radiozmeritel assembly plant. Ukrainian commanders said they intercepted five of eight Iskander-M and S-400 missiles launched, while missile debris fell on non-residential buildings in the Darnytskyi district and a warehouse was struck in Sviatochynskyi. Strikes also targeted the port of Yuzhniy, seven fuel depots and a cargo ship in Odesa, and combat drones hit Kharkiv.
The assault came hours after European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen visited Kyiv to strengthen defence cooperation. In a separate political development, President Volodymyr Zelensky endorsed Naftogaz CEO Serhiy Koretskyi as the new prime minister, following the resignation of Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, which parliament accepted on 14 July.
