Russian forces launched a missile strike on a residential five-storey apartment building in Kharkiv on 8 July 2026, killing a man and a woman and wounding at least 42 people, Ukrainian media reported. The attack targeted the Nemyshlianskyi district of Ukraine's second-largest city.
Among the injured were at least four children, including three teenagers aged 14, 16 and 17, according to Swedish media. The strike was part of a series of missile attacks against Kharkiv that left two dead and roughly 20 injured in initial tallies.
Ukrainian sources said Russia used an S8000 Banderos drone-missile to carry out the strike on the residential building.
