Ukraine launched overnight drone and missile attacks on energy infrastructure and warehouses in Russia's Belgorod and Rostov regions on Sunday, killing at least two people and wounding 17, after striking a Wildberries logistics centre in Yekaterinburg a day earlier.
The overnight barrage hit Belgorod's Luchinskaya thermal power plant and an electrical substation. In Rostov-on-Don, two people were killed and five wounded, two critically, while a separate drone strike on Belgorod injured 12 residents, including two children, and set apartments and more than 15 cars ablaze.
Russia responded with strikes on Sumy that wounded five people, and an earlier attack in the Zaporizhzhia region killed one and wounded two. The escalation followed a Russian ballistic missile strike on Friday that killed at least 10 people near Kyiv at a weapons exhibition, after which the bombardment continued across Ukraine's south-east.
