A Russian missile strike killed at least 10 people and wounded around 100 at a defence industry event in the Kyiv region on Thursday, prompting Ukraine's prosecutor general to open an investigation into negligence leading to deaths. The gathering of defence professionals had been announced on social media.

Overnight, Russia fired five guided missiles and 180 strike drones across Ukraine, with air defences intercepting or suppressing most of them. Strikes in Sloviansk killed five people, and nearly 150,000 residents in the Chernihiv region lost power after Russian strikes.

Ukraine struck back, hitting a military factory in Kirov, killing six people, and targeting Wildberries warehouse centres near Saint Petersburg and in Simferopol for the third time this week. Russia said it shot down 571 Ukrainian drones overnight.
