A suspected Ukrainian overnight attack on holiday camps in the Russian-held town of Kyrylivka killed at least 12 people, including four children, and wounded 19, according to Russian-installed officials, who said eight people remain missing and two survivors, including a child, were pulled from the rubble. The Russian-appointed governor of Zaporizhzhia, Yevhen Balytsky, accused Ukraine of deliberately targeting civilians in the strike on the resort, which has been under Russian control since shortly after the full-scale invasion began in February 2022.
The violence extended across the front line. In Ukrainian-held Zaporizhzhia, a Russian strike killed one woman and wounded nine others, while a separate Russian drone strike on a Nova Poshta civilian facility in Sumy killed three drivers. In a spillover incident, Romania's defence ministry shot down a drone that breached its airspace near the Ukrainian border.
