One person was killed and at least 15 others injured, several critically, after a white van drove at high speed into a crowd gathered for Berlin's Christopher Street Day celebrations on Saturday evening. The vehicle struck multiple people in Tiergarten park near the Brandenburg Gate at approximately 22:00 local time.
One victim died at the scene despite resuscitation efforts, and one person fled on foot following the incident, according to police. Officers launched an intensive search for suspects.
Organisers cancelled the remainder of the annual Pride festivities, which had drawn hundreds of thousands of attendees. Evacuation notices appeared on large screens near the scene as crowds were urged to leave the area calmly.
