Two people were killed and several others wounded when gunfire erupted at a Latin American street festival in Toronto on Saturday evening, prompting a large-scale police search for the shooter.
Officers were called to the Salsa on St Clair festival on St Clair Avenue West near Arlington Avenue at 8:12 p.m. local time on July 11. Police found six victims with gunshot wounds and pronounced two dead at the scene. Toronto City News reported five people were hit in the attack. Authorities issued an active-shooter warning around 8:20 p.m.
The incident occurred during the 22nd edition of the annual festival, which was scheduled to run July 11–12. No suspect has been apprehended and no motive has been published as the manhunt continues.
