A young man known to police has been arrested and jailed over a knife attack that left eight people injured at a village festival in Egling, Bavaria, on Saturday evening.
The suspect, a German national born in Germany, was detained on Monday, two days after the incident at the Blauliachd festival, which drew around 700 attendees. Police received the alarm at approximately 23:45 local time on Saturday. The attacker struck a 24-year-old Austrian man in the head before stabbing a 16-year-old in the arm, severing an artery. Six others were wounded in related scuffles on the grounds. All victims were hospitalised; none sustained life-threatening injuries.
A large emergency response including 60 officers, ambulances, a rescue helicopter and a police drone was deployed to the scene. The 16-year-old required surgery. An arrest warrant has been issued and the suspect, facing a dangerous bodily harm investigation, has been placed in pre-trial detention.
