A drone crashed in an uninhabited area approximately four kilometres northeast of Grindu in Romania's Tulcea district, after radar surveillance detected a group of aerial targets near the Ukrainian border at 2:23 a.m. Two Spanish Air and Space Force F-18 aircraft were scrambled to monitor the situation.

The incident came as Russia launched fresh strikes against Ukraine overnight. Polish authorities scrambled fighter jets to secure national airspace in response to Russian attacks on Ukrainian targets.

Russian ballistic missiles struck Kyiv overnight into Thursday, killing at least eight people and wounding 33. Parts of the capital lost power following the bombardment, which came after the largest aerial exchanges of the war earlier this week.
