Youri Tielemans has joined Manchester United from Aston Villa after the club triggered his £35 million release clause in July 2026. The Belgian midfielder described the move to Old Trafford as a "formidable achievement" and said he spoke with United twice before finalising the transfer.
Tielemans made his debut in a 1-1 draw against Paris Saint-Germain in Gothenburg and has since adapted to manager Michael Carrick's methods, saying the system requires "feeling football" and "having it in your feet." He acknowledged that succeeding at the club is a process he is committed to.
The former Anderlecht prodigy, who made his professional debut at 16, brings extensive experience, having played 668 matches for club and country. His career highlights include scoring Leicester's winner in the 2021 FA Cup final and Aston Villa's opener in the Europa League final against Freiburg in May.
