Manchester United have agreed a £50 million deal to sign Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos, strengthening their squad ahead of a return to the Champions League. The agreement is structured as £48 million guaranteed plus £2 million in add-ons, with Chelsea retaining a 10 percent sell-on clause. Santos is preparing to undergo a medical with his new club.
The 22-year-old Brazilian, who moved to Chelsea from Vasco da Gama for £18 million in 2023, is open to a move in search of regular first-team minutes after making just 13 Premier League starts last season. He sat behind Moisés Caicedo and Enzo Fernández in the Chelsea midfield hierarchy. Newcastle had also monitored Santos as a potential target.
The sale helps Chelsea raise funds to support new head coach Xabi Alonso, who is reshaping the squad ahead of pre-season training beginning July 9. United's midfield rebuild follows the departure of Casemiro and a knee ligament injury to Manuel Ugarte during international duty last week.
