Ukraine's parliament has accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, with 258 lawmakers voting in favour, clearing the way for President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's sweeping government overhaul. Svyrydenko, who has led the cabinet since July 2025, is expected to take up a role managing relations with key partners, with one lawmaker tipping her as Kyiv's next ambassador to Washington.
Zelenskyy said the changes reflect a new domestic and foreign political strategy, citing priorities including EU accession progress and the licensed production of US-made Patriot interceptor missiles following a basic agreement with Washington. Naftogaz CEO Serhiy Koretskyi is widely reported as the frontrunner to succeed Svyrydenko, as the government prepares for a difficult winter expected under continued Russian pressure.
The president has also signalled replacements among law enforcement leadership and met with defence, interior, and energy ministers following the announcement.
