Serena Williams and Carlos Alcaraz will play together in the US Open mixed doubles after receiving a wildcard entry into the main draw. The tournament's mixed doubles event takes place from 24-26 August in New York.

Williams, 44, returned to tennis in June after a four-year absence, losing in the Wimbledon singles to Maya Joint and later falling with sister Venus at the Cincinnati Open. Alcaraz, 21 years her junior, has been sidelined with a wrist injury since April. An exchange of messages on social media between the 23-time Grand Slam singles champion and the Spaniard preceded the announcement.

The mixed doubles draw features several high-profile pairings, including Aryna Sabalenka with Novak Djokovic, Iga Swiatek with Casper Ruud, and Elena Rybakina with Taylor Fritz. Elina Svitolina will partner husband Gael Monfils in his final Grand Slam before retirement.
