Newcastle agree deal for Freiburg midfielder Johan Manzambi in club-record transfer

· Sports DEUGBRCHE

Newcastle United have reached a full agreement with SC Freiburg for the transfer of Switzerland midfielder Johan Manzambi, in a deal valued at around 60 million euros plus bonuses that would shatter Freiburg's outgoing transfer record.

The English Premier League club agreed a £51.5 million fee for the midfielder, whose previous club record departure was Kevin Schade's 25 million euro move to Brentford in 2023. However, the transfer will not be finalised while Switzerland remain in the World Cup. Manzambi is scheduled to face Argentina in the quarter-finals on Thursday, though he is struggling with a minor knee injury and remains uncertain for the match.

Meanwhile, Newcastle have no intention of selling Bruno Guimarães to Arsenal, and the London club have not submitted a formal offer for the Brazilian.
