Ipswich Town have completed the signing of Japan forward Daizen Maeda from Celtic on a three-year contract reported to be worth £10 million. The 28-year-old becomes the newly promoted Premier League club's fifth signing of the summer transfer window and their first Japanese player.

Maeda arrives after a prolific spell at Celtic, where he scored 79 goals in 212 appearances and won five Scottish Premiership titles alongside multiple domestic cups. He scored 33 goals in the 2024-25 season and was named PFA Scotland Players' Player of the Year. The forward recently represented Japan at the 2026 World Cup, scoring in a group-stage draw against Sweden before the team was eliminated in the last 32 by Brazil.

Manager Gary O'Neil, who took charge this summer following Kieran McKenna's departure, is bolstering his squad after Ipswich secured promotion by finishing second in the Championship last season.
