Oud-Heverlee Leuven have signed Japanese forward Shin Yamada on a season-long loan from Celtic, the Belgian top-flight club announced on Monday.

The 26-year-old arrives seeking regular first-team football after a difficult debut season in Europe. Yamada joined the Scottish Premiership club last summer from J1 League side Kawasaki Frontale, where he had scored 19 goals in 2024 and accumulated 32 goals and nine assists across 122 appearances overall. However, he featured in only 11 matches without scoring for Celtic before a January move on loan to German second-division outfit Preussen Münster, where he netted three times in 10 appearances.

Yamada, who earned his first Japan cap at last year's EAFF E-1 Football Championship, now faces a fresh challenge in Belgium as he looks to rebuild momentum ahead of the new campaign.
