A sweltering weekend will give way to a sharp temperature drop across Austria, Belgium and Ireland, with a cold front set to sweep in early next week after days of intense heat.
In Belgium, an orange heat warning covers all provinces except West Flanders on Friday, with the Royal Meteorological Institute forecasting local highs of 38°C inland while coastal areas remain milder at 28–29°C. Temperatures will ease to 22–28°C by Sunday. In Austria, highs reaching 36°C through the weekend will fall to a national maximum of 27°C from Tuesday as a cold front crosses from the west on Monday, bringing rain to most regions bar the south.
Ireland's southeast will see the warmest conditions on Friday, with Wexford and Waterford reaching up to 25°C, before Met Éireann forecasts a shift to an unsettled Atlantic regime with persistent rain from Monday and highs dropping to just 15°C in some areas on Saturday.
