Germany's summer heatwave has given way to distinctly cooler conditions and widespread rain, with temperatures expected to remain well below the highs of recent weeks through the end of August. Cooler air masses are pushing in from the north, making 30C readings the exception rather than the rule this week, after last week's scorching peak.

In North Rhine-Westphalia, the Deutscher Wetterdienst forecasts a changeable week with rain on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and highs of up to 23C, while the Eifel region can expect showers but no heavy accumulation. In Hesse, temperatures drop to between 20C and 25C on Monday with rain setting in, and near-continuous wet weather is forecast through midweek.

Berlin and Brandenburg see clouds and showers on Monday with highs of 20–23C, before a brief warm-up to 25C midweek. Weekend lows could fall below 10C in many areas, with just 6C possible in the west.
