Wildfire risk spikes in Denmark as heatwave pushes temperatures to 32 degrees

· Environment DNKDEU

The Danish Meteorological Institute has warned of a high wildfire risk index across Denmark, with fire danger rated very high to extreme in several areas on Friday after a cold front brought rain and cooler air earlier in the week.

Friday brings sunny skies and temperatures up to 32 degrees in Jutland, marking a sharp rebound from Monday's showers. The heat will be short-lived: Saturday cools to between 20 and 25 degrees, and Sunday drops further to 16–21 degrees.

In neighbouring Baden-Württemberg, Germany, temperatures are forecast to reach 38 degrees in the Kraichgau region on Saturday before falling to a maximum of 32 on Sunday, with rain expected in parts of the state. Precipitation chances remain very low through the following week.
