A fourth African heat wave will strike Italy from around July 28, driving temperatures back up to 38–39°C across the Po Valley, Florence, Rome and the south, after a brief cooldown with thunderstorms on Sunday pulls northern highs down to around 27°C, four degrees below the 1996–2025 climate average.
The Dutch forecast mirrors the pattern: after a week of mild 20–25°C summer weather with northwesterly winds and scattered rain, showers will pass on Sunday before the wind swings south, channeling warm air from Spain and France into the Netherlands and raising the prospect of tropical temperatures in the week ahead.
In Austria, Friday opened with friendly summer conditions and temperatures between 24 and 30°C, though thunderstorm risk rose in the western highlands by afternoon.
