Intense thunderstorms swept down Italy’s Adriatic coast toward Puglia and Calabria on Thursday, opening a volatile weather sequence that forecasters say will give way to a fourth African heat wave by mid-next week, pushing temperatures in the Po Valley, Florence, Rome and the south back to 38–39°C after Wednesday.
Saturday is expected to bring mostly settled summer conditions with isolated showers in the Valle d’Aosta and Piedmont, before an Atlantic disturbance deepens the weekend cooldown across northern and central Italy.
In Poland, sunny skies and highs of 23–27°C on Saturday will give way Sunday to a cold front bearing rain and thunderstorms across the northwest. The system may turn violent overnight into Monday with downpours, hail and strong winds, dragging daytime highs down to 20–23°C before a gradual recovery begins Tuesday.
