A distributed denial-of-service attack has disrupted a wide range of Norway's public digital services, knocking out national login systems and cascading into healthcare and tax platforms early Monday.
The Norwegian Digitalisation Agency, known as Digdir, confirmed the outage began at 03:38 and identified it as a DDoS attack targeting ID-porten, the national authentication gateway operated by partner Vivicta. Services directly affected included ID-porten, MinID, Maskinporten, and several administrative registries. Altinn, digital mailbox, and e-signature platforms were also impaired because they rely on ID-porten for user authentication. Norwegian Health Network reported its services were affected as well, though some users could log in via mobile apps.
By 07:25, services were coming back online and users were regaining access. A similar DDoS attack in early August took services offline for more than 24 hours.
