A distributed denial-of-service attack on Norway's national digital identity portal has knocked out a swath of essential public services, including tax filing, welfare payments, healthcare records and pharmacy systems, the Norwegian Digitalisation Agency (Digdir) said on Monday.
The disruption began around 00:50 on Monday, affecting ID-porten, a login gateway used by more than 4.5 million people and 5,000 government services. Among the affected platforms are Altinn, MinID, the national health portal Helsenorge, the prescription system and core medical records, Digdir confirmed. Pharmacies were also hit as a result.
This is the second major cyberattack on central Norwegian digital infrastructure in six weeks. In late June, a similar DDoS strike targeted Vivicta, a Digdir supplier. State-owned gambling operator Norsk Tipping also suspended its Oddsen betting service on Sunday after an attack of the same type.
