Hackers breached Liechtenstein's register of beneficial owners, stealing approximately 31,000 personal data records linked to companies, foundations, and trusts, the government said on Sunday.

The attack targeted the register of economically entitled persons, a database established in 2021 to combat money laundering and terrorist financing. The intrusion occurred overnight from Thursday to Friday, authorities said.

Prime Minister Brigitte Haas and Justice Minister Emanuel Schädler are leading a crisis task force convened on Saturday evening to coordinate the response. The principality's government has not disclosed which entities or individuals may be affected or whether the stolen data has been published or offered for sale.
