Oslo Gardermoen closed to scheduled traffic for five hours on Sunday, grounding 147 of the day's 346 departures and disrupting travel for an estimated 95,000 passengers after twelve air traffic controllers walked off the job Friday.
The airspace shutdown ran from 06:30 to 11:30, with Oslo bearing the heaviest impact. Norwegian alone cancelled 72 departures, affecting roughly 9,000 passengers, while Widerøe scrapped all flights through Bergen and Stavanger during a separate evening airspace closure on the west coast. Hundreds of travellers were believed to have spent Saturday night at Bergen Flesland after west-coast airspace was shut down a day earlier.
State mediator Mats Ruland ruled out new talks for now. The Norwegian Air Traffic Controllers Association has flagged an escalation on Tuesday, with 536 controllers issued strike notices in total.
