A data breach at e-scooter company Ryde has exposed the personal information of approximately 4.5 million users across Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Germany, the company said. The intrusion, which occurred in the early hours of 2 August, affected all customer accounts on the platform.
Compromised data includes phone numbers, email addresses, dates of birth, and partial payment card numbers. In some cases, names, addresses, and payment history were also accessed by the external party that gained entry to Ryde's systems. Of the total accounts affected, 1.6 million are registered in Norway alone.
Ryde has reported the incident to police and data protection authorities. The company has not disclosed how the breach occurred or identified those responsible.
