Bayern Munich attributes Musiala collapses to medication change, rules him out of Supercup

· Sports DEU

Bayern Munich have attributed Jamal Musiala's recent on-pitch collapses to a change in medication and confirmed he will miss Saturday's Franz Beckenbauer Supercup against Borussia Dortmund. The 23-year-old is currently training individually after collapsing in preseason friendlies against RB Leipzig and 1. FC Heidenheim.

Manager Vincent Kompany said Musiala had altered his treatment, resulting in side effects, while sporting director Max Eberl stated the medication adjustment made the episodes more visible without posing danger. Eberl revealed the club has known about Musiala's condition throughout last season and aims to restore the treatment regimen that previously kept him seizure-free.

Musiala described the episodes as absences caused by a neurological dysfunction, a form of epileptic seizure. Serge Gnabry and Lennart will also miss the Dortmund match.
