Aston Villa are close to signing Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki for around £30 million after Paris Saint-Germain's move for the Japan international collapsed on Saturday.
PSG had agreed a €35 million deal with Parma for Suzuki, who started all four of Japan's matches at this summer's World Cup. However, the French club ended negotiations after the goalkeeper's agents raised their commission demands to levels the club deemed too high.
Villa's pursuit comes as Juventus made a fresh enquiry over Emiliano Martinez, who missed Wednesday's Super Cup defeat to Paris Saint-Germain. The Argentina international helped Villa win the Europa League in May but Villa's director of football operations, Damian Vidagany, insisted Martinez would not leave the club. Suzuki has made 59 appearances for Parma since joining from Urawa Red Diamonds in 2024.
