Zinedine Zidane will be appointed head coach of France on Tuesday, signing a four-year deal that runs through the 2030 World Cup. The French Football Federation is scheduled to formally introduce Deschamps' successor on 28 July after 14 years under Deschamps, who took charge in 2012. RMC Sport reported that Zidane has already signed his contract.

France's first matches under the new manager are set for a fixture against Turkey on 25 September, followed by a meeting with Italy at the Stade de France on 2 October.

In a parallel managerial shake-up, the German Football Association has called a virtual press conference for 24 July to announce the successor to Julian Nagelsmann, with Jurgen Klopp expected to take the role.
