· Society BEL

Two young men will stand trial in November 2026 over a foiled plot to attack Leuven Pride in 2024, facing up to 20 years in prison on charges of participation in a terrorist organisation.

The principal suspect, who was 18 at the time, attempted to acquire weapons through Telegram and was intercepted by an undercover agent posing as a supplier. A second defendant, described as a former classmate, is also charged in connection with the plot.

The case will be heard before a court in November 2026, with both defendants facing the maximum sentence for terrorist activity. The next edition of Leuven Pride is confirmed to go ahead in September 2026.
