British boy, 14, charged with plotting terror attacks on two London mosques

· Society GBR

A 14-year-old boy has been charged with preparing terrorist acts in what authorities describe as an extreme right-wing plot to attack two mosques in Sutton, south London.

The arrest fell under section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006, covering preparation of terrorist acts, and the teenager faces an additional count of racially aggravated property damage after a car window was allegedly smashed before 20 June 2026. The suspected preparation activities are alleged to have taken place on or before 9 July.

The boy has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Wednesday. Because of his age, he cannot be named under British law.
