A Dublin museum worker has been remanded in custody after being charged with possessing a viable explosive device containing military-grade Semtex, a timer switch, and a detonator.
Simon O'Donovan, 44, appeared before the Special Criminal Court on July 25 following his arrest. The court heard he is alleged to have stored the device at the National Museum at Collins' Barracks, where he was employed. Detective Sergeant Shane Noone stated the device contained 394 grams of Semtex.
O'Donovan's bail application was refused after police objections. He was remanded until October 5, when the book of evidence will be served. A second suspect, Isobella Perrie Sullivan, 25, of Co Kildare, has been charged with possession of explosives in connection with the same investigation, which began after a vehicle was stopped and searched on the N2 near Carrickmacross on July 22.
