A 25-year-old woman from County Kildare has been remanded in custody with consent to bail after being charged with possessing explosives following the interception of a device in a car near the Irish border last week.
Isobella Perrie Sullivan, of Clane, appeared before Judge Raymond Finnegan, who confirmed no formal application to approve bail had been filed despite an email from her solicitor. She was remanded until 7 August. Her defence lawyer stated she had been asked to carry a bag north and was unaware of its contents, alleging she had been manipulated into the situation. Bail conditions set include a €15,000 independent surety, surrender of her passport, a nightly curfew, and daily reporting to Naas Garda station.
Gardaí requested she have no contact with the Saoradh political party or the New IRA. Her lawyer clarified she had spent time with Saoradh, correcting earlier reports that mistakenly referenced Syria.
