Primož Roglič has been struck by a car during training ahead of the Vuelta a España but still aims to compete when the race begins on 22 August in Monaco.

The 36-year-old announced on Instagram on Friday that he was hit by a vehicle a few days earlier, sharing a photo that showed a large bruise on his thigh. The injury has forced the German Red Bull rider to withdraw from both the Clásica San Sebastián one-day race and the Burgos stage race.

Roglič is one of the most successful riders in the history of the Vuelta, having won the Spanish Grand Tour in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2024. Despite the setback, his participation in this year's edition remains his primary objective.
