Jonas Vingegaard cannot yet ride or train following collarbone surgery after crashing on stage 15 of the Tour de France in July, but the Danish rider hopes to be fit for the road world championships in Canada from 20–27 September.
Vingegaard, who won the Giro d'Italia, Paris-Nice, and the Volta a Catalunya in 2026, acknowledged that riding the Giro may have hurt his explosiveness at the Tour, where Tadej Pogacar distanced him on stages 10 and 14 before Vingegaard lost 4:30 overall and crashed out while sitting second in the general classification. He has no plans yet for next season and will discuss the remainder of 2026 with Visma Lease a Bike.
Wout van Aert, who missed the Tour with an elbow injury, sent messages to Vingegaard shortly after the crash. Vingegaard was honoured in his hometown of Glyngøre during PostNord Danmark Rundt on Wednesday.
