Norway's Torstein Træen has withdrawn from the 2026 Tour de France after a heavy crash during stage six on Wednesday. The 30-year-old fell on the descent of the Col du Tourmalet with roughly 25 kilometres remaining, while wearing the race leader's yellow jersey.
Træen suffered a concussion, multiple fractured ribs, and fractures to his right shoulder and elbow in the incident. Uno-X team principal Thor Hushovd confirmed Træen will not start stage seven, ending his brief spell at the top of the general classification. Træen had led the race for two stages before the crash.
Tadej Pogačar won the stage and assumed overall leadership following Træen's departure.
