Remco Evenepoel has publicly expressed frustration with Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe teammate Florian Lipowitz following the sixth stage of the Tour de France, accusing the German rider of refusing to provide a leadout in the final sprint.
Evenepoel launched his sprint alone before being overtaken by Isaac Del Toro, finishing fourth on the opening Pyrenees stage, which Tadej Pogačar won by three minutes ahead of Jonas Vingegaard. The Belgian cited having ridden 30 kilometres at the front for Lipowitz at the Tour of Catalonia and said he asked for just one kilometre of reciprocation on Thursday but was denied. He also criticised Lidl-Trek for declining to set the pace despite having two riders in the group.
It is the first Tour de France the pair have contested together since Evenepoel joined Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe this season. Evenepoel sits fourth overall, 3 minutes 30 seconds behind race leader Pogačar, while Lipowitz is seventh at four minutes.
