Movistar rider Einer Rubio has withdrawn from the Tour de France with just two days remaining after colliding with a UAE Team Emirates car during Friday's ascent of Alpe d'Huez. The Colombian cyclist crashed into the vehicle when it braked abruptly to avoid a spectator who had fallen onto the road, shattering its rear window.
Rubio required approximately 20 stitches to his face but avoided serious injury. Medical examinations at a Grenoble hospital revealed no fractures, and he was discharged the same evening.
Norwegian rider Tobias Halland Johannessen, who witnessed the crash, voiced concern for Rubio following the incident. The crash ended Rubio's race before the final stages into Paris.
