Police shot a man in an Oslo apartment on Saturday after he directed threats at officers responding to a domestic disturbance, authorities said.
Officers arrived at the Lindeberg address around 10 a.m. following reports that a man was threatening a woman inside a residence. Tactical commander Nicolai Julsrud Backe-Henden said police established partial contact with those inside but faced threats before a situation arose that prompted them to open fire. The man was conscious and transported to hospital with unspecified injuries, while the woman and a third person found in the apartment were unharmed. The woman was taken to a medical clinic as a precaution.
No officers were injured. The Special Unit for Police Affairs has launched a mandatory investigation into the shooting, with Kripos assisting in scene examination and evidence collection. Involved officers have been separated pending interviews.
