A woman in her 60s was hospitalised with serious head injuries after a violent assault in the Nydalen district of Oslo early on Tuesday.
The incident occurred around 08:00 local time on a sidewalk between the BI Norwegian Business School and the Radisson Blu Hotel. Police received the first alarm at 08:02. The woman had attempted to calm a street argument when she was attacked as a random bystander, according to investigators.
A man in his 30s has been arrested and charged with causing grievous bodily harm. Witnesses restrained the suspect and held him on the ground until officers arrived. The victim was taken to hospital while the suspect was placed in custody.
