Tadej Pogacar will race the Vuelta a España for the first time since 2019, his UAE Team Emirates squad confirmed on Monday, as the five-time Tour de France winner seeks the only Grand Tour title missing from his palmarès.
The 27-year-old hinted at a Vuelta start midway through his successful Tour defence this summer. Pogacar won the Tour de France five times and the Giro d'Italia in 2024, but has never claimed the Spanish race. His sole Vuelta appearance came as a debutant in 2019, where he finished third overall and took three stage wins.
The race begins with a time trial in Monaco on 22 August and concludes in Granada on 13 September. Rival Jonas Vingegaard, who broke his collarbone during the Tour, is expected to skip the event.
