Defending champion Tadej Pogačar won stage six of the 2026 Tour de France, launching a long-range attack on the Col du Tourmalet and reclaiming the yellow jersey with a commanding performance in the Pyrenees.
Pogačar struck out with Isaac del Toro roughly 43 kilometres from the finish, cresting the Tourmalet 30 seconds ahead of Jonas Vingegaard and extending his advantage on the descent and run-in. Vingegaard crossed the line two minutes and 38 seconds behind, leaving Pogačar with a cumulative lead of 2:42 over the Dane. Del Toro sits third at 3:27.
The result sent a chill through the general-classification field. Vingegaard, though disappointed, said he still believes in his chances, while Tiesj Benoot warned the race for first place may already be decided and Remco Evenepoel conceded Pogačar was simply unrideable.
