Benjamin Nygren's second-half header gave Celtic a 1-0 victory over Dundee at Celtic Park on Sunday, opening their Scottish Premiership title defence with a narrow win. Nygren scored the only goal in the 52nd minute, rising to meet a cross and direct it past the goalkeeper.
Before kick-off, Callum McGregor unfurled the league flag to mark Celtic's 14th championship in 15 seasons, confirming five consecutive titles. The match also featured debuts for Celtic's two major summer signings: Kasper Høgh, a club-record £11 million arrival from Bodø/Glimt, and Camilo Durán, signed from Qarabag for £5.5 million. Dundee goalkeeper Owen Goodman also made his first appearance.
Celtic were wasteful in front of goal, with Høgh missing several chances and McGregor striking the post. Dundee threatened late, registering 11 shots, before goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo preserved the result with an 82nd-minute save. Celtic face LASK in a Champions League qualifier in two and a half weeks.
