Aberdeen overturned a first-half deficit with two late goals to defeat Hearts 2-1 in their Scottish Premiership opener at Pittodrie on Friday before a crowd of 18,513.
Oisin McEntee gave Hearts a 35th-minute lead, but the visitors saw Stuart Findlay sent off before Lewis Mayo equalised in the 90th minute. Kevin Nisbet then converted a stoppage-time penalty to secure the win. Aberdeen manager Stephen Robinson said the result showed character and fight, while Hearts boss Wouter Vrancken lamented that his side gave the game away in five minutes. The loss marked a third consecutive defeat for Vrancken, who replaced Derek McInnes in June, following a 6-0 aggregate Champions League qualifying exit to Sturm Graz.
Elsewhere, St Mirren beat Falkirk 2-0 with Killian Phillips scoring twice. Hearts face Benfica in Europa League qualifying on Thursday.
