Norway's Police Security Service has closed its second investigation into threats against Workers' Youth League leader Gaute Skjervø, deeming the statements not criminal.
The Workers' Youth League had filed reports after Skjervø received messages containing personal attacks, calls for violence, and references to weapons, the July 22 attacks, and killing. The harassment also targeted Skjervø's wife and children. Secretary-General Jan Halvor Vaag Endrerud shared examples of the abuse on Facebook, including comments referencing Breivik, murder, and violence. Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre had asked the security service to monitor the harassment.
The security service has broadened its remit to cover threats against central board members of political youth organisations. It registered nine active criminal cases involving threats and harassment against politicians in May, compared with three a year earlier.
