Norris claims Hungarian Grand Prix for McLaren's first win of the season

Lando Norris converted his pole position into victory at the Hungarian Grand Prix on Sunday, delivering McLaren's first win of the 2026 season after ending Mercedes' qualifying streak the previous day. Norris, who received a major car upgrade before the race, described the result as one of his best performances.

Max Verstappen finished second for Red Bull while Kimi Antonelli recovered from seventh on the grid to take third for Mercedes. Piastri retired with a gearbox failure on lap 56, denying McLaren a one-two finish. Ferrari's Charles Leclerc placed fourth and Lewis Hamilton fifth after a pit-lane speeding penalty.

Antonelli heads into the summer break with a 50-point championship lead over Hamilton. In calendar news, the cancelled Bahrain Grand Prix will be replaced by a race at Sepang, Malaysia, on 4 October, while the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix has been cancelled without replacement.
