Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton has been demoted three grid positions at the Hungarian Grand Prix after race stewards ruled he unnecessarily impeded McLaren's Oscar Piastri during Q3 qualifying at the Hungaroring.
Hamilton had originally set the second-fastest time in qualifying but was penalised after officials reviewed video, telemetry, radio communications and on-board footage. The decision drops the Ferrari driver to fifth on the starting grid, with Charles Leclerc, Kimi Antonelli and Piastri each moving up one position as a result.
Hamilton stated he was unaware that Piastri was behind him during the incident. The penalty reshuffles the front rows ahead of Sunday's race.
