Newcastle United have finalised the signing of Amar Dedic from Benfica, with the defender committing to a five-year contract running until 2031 after passing his medical on Tyneside on Monday.
The transfer fee stands at approximately £29.5m, with Benfica retaining a near 18 per cent stake in any future profit should the English club sell the right-back on. Dedic, who celebrated his 24th birthday on the day of the announcement, becomes Newcastle's sixth addition of the summer window and will wear the No 37 shirt.
Dedic is likely to start at right-back in Sunday's Premier League opener against Liverpool, with Tino Livramento still sidelined by a calf injury. The Bosnian international ranked second in Portugal's top flight last season for carries into the attacking third, and was part of the Benfica side defeated 3-0 by Newcastle in the Champions League last term.
