AFC Bournemouth have completed the signing of Portugal centre-back Antonio Silva from Benfica for an initial £21.4 million plus potential add-ons of £4.3 million, the clubs confirmed.
Silva, 22, travels for a medical after the agreement was reached and becomes manager Marco Rose's second signing of the summer, following Alvaro Rodriguez's arrival from Elche. Bournemouth's President of Football Operations Tiago Pinto said the club had been monitoring Silva for a long time. The defender prefers the left side of central defence, the position vacated by Senesi.
Silva made 235 senior appearances for Benfica, winning six major trophies for club and country, and was named Primeira Liga Defender of the Year for the 2022/23 season. He has earned 20 caps for Portugal, featuring at the 2022 World Cup and Euro 2024, and was part of the squad that won the 2025 UEFA Nations League. Benfica, who had brought in Clément Lenglet and Gabriel Índio to reinforce their defence, officially announced the departure.
